New Friends, New Events

If you’re new to Louisville, it may be little tough meeting cool new people.  Lucky for you, we’re here to help.  Join us at our monthly New2Lou 2nd Wed Social this Wed (9/12), 5:30-8:30 pm at Theatre Square Marketplace.  We’ll have drink and food specials, lots of fun new people to mingle with and swag, yep, free local stuff.  More details here.

 September 11 – 16 Kentucky Bourbon Festival - What better way to celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month than in Bardstown, KY, the bourbon capital of the world.  Bardstown is a short drive from Louisville (~40 miles) and there will be lots of bourbon, food and entertainment, so well worth the drive.  Click here for a list of events.

 

September 13 – 16 Gaslight Festival is a festival held annually on the third weekend in September and hosted by the Jeffersontown Chamber.  The weekend festivities include a parade, balloon glow, car show, arts and crafts show and more. For a full schedule of events, check out the website.

 

September 12-30 WickedHaven’t seen the popular Broadway musical Wicked yet?  Here’s your opportunity and you don’t even need to leave town.  Want great tickets at a great price? Try the day-of-performance lottery for your chance to win discounted tickets on a limited number of orchestra seats.

 

Friday (9/14) Louisville Patrons Happy Hour - Are you a young professional interested in the arts community?  Here’s your opportunity to mix and mingle with folks that share your passion and interest.  Learn more about the Louisville Patrons Council at this free social event at Glassworks.

Saturday (9/15) Downtown Living Tour - thinking about moving downtown or just want to see some cool urban spaces?  LDMD is hosting their free annual living tour this Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.  Tour unique urban spaces throughout the city and catch a glimpse of what it’s like to live downtown.

 

Saturday (9/15) National Jugband Jubilee - free live jugband music  at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater in Louisville Waterfront Park.  This jubilee promises entertainment galore filled with handmade instruments and good old fashioned fun.

 

Saturday (9/15) Diana: A Celebration – The highly anticipated opening of Diana: A Celebration Exhibition at the Frazier Museum.  The exhibition chronicles the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales and contains her royal wedding gown, family heirlooms, and personal mementos. The exhibition will be at the Frazier through January 13, 2013.

Sunday (9/16) Cosa Seria LatinBand, Salsa Sunday on the Glassworks building rooftop.  Enjoy live music from hot local band Cosa Seria every third Sunday of the month.

Saturday (9/22) Nulu Festival The official Idea Festival after party. Live music, beer, food and entertainment in, you guessed it, the NuLu District.  Want to participate? Sign up as a vendorsponsor, volunteer, or just show up for the party.  We’ll be there and you should too!
