The Kentucky Derby pre-party continues this week with a ton of great events, so many we can’t possibly list them all in our e-newsletter. WaterfrontWedWednesday (4/27) Waterfront Wednesday - Celebrate the return of our fav local concert series! Grab a friend and head out to the Big Four Bridge tonight to party with 10,000 of Louisville’s finest! Waterfront Wednesday officially kicks off tonight and the season continues on every last Wednesday of every month through the season. Featured artists this month: 1200Liz Vice and Rayland Baxter. Music starts at 6 pm.

kydf6146v2_Waterfront Jam_250x250Thursday (4/28) - Friday (5/6) Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville Concert Series - The annual Kentucky Derby Festival concert series on the Waterfront kicks off this week and keeps on kickin’ through Derby! Admission is free with a Pegasus Pin, and you can pick one up at any local Kroger. The deadline to submit your application to “fly” in the Louisville Red Bull Flugtag is May 1st! Want to know more about this crazy event? Friday (4/29) Great Balloon Glow - Hot air balloons are magical right? Now imagine a bunch of balloons with pilots firing burners as the balloons glow again the blackness of the sky synchronized to music. Sounds amazing right? Head down to Louisville Waterfront Park with 50,000+ fans this Friday to enjoy the show. We promise it won’t disappoint. Admission is free with a Pegasus Pin.

ChurchillOpeningNightSaturday (4/30) Opening Night - Day at the Races - Churchill Downs is officially kicking off its spring racing season! This year they are partnering with Fund for the Arts to combine the Thrill of Racing and the Best of Louisville Arts. Enjoy live racing, actors, dancers, musicians, visual artists and more! Gates open at 5 pm. First post is at 6 pm. General admission is $10, reserved seating starts at $25. Attire is “Dress to Impress”.

Tour-de-LouSunday (5/1) PNC Tour de Lou - Join the Kentucky Derby Festival and the Louisville Bicycle Club this Sunday at the PNC Tour de Lou! This bike event is for all ages and all levels of experience. The Tour de Lou route is an open course that starts and finishes at Waterfront Park near Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville. Register here.

pegasus-paradeThursday (5/5) Republic Bank Pegasus Parade - Annual Derby Tradition since 1956. The Pegasus Parade marches west on Broadway and this year’s theme is “Fun For The Arts.” The parade starts at 5 pm and showcases some of the nation’s finest marching bands and equestrian units, inflatable characters, and colorful floats. ThurbyThursday (5/5) Thurby - And no we aren’t slurring our words. It’s like FRamily, or BRangelina, it’s the Thursday before Derby when the locals hit up the track. Tickets are affordable (starting at $20) and the track is all decked out for Derby, but without the large crowds and long lines. Plus you can practice your betting skills before the big day! Don’t forget to check out our betting tips from the experts Churchill Downs!

2016KentuckyOaksFriday (5/6) Kentucky Oaks - Namesake fillies race, boasts a special flower (Lilly), official cocktail (also the Lilly with a collectible glass) and has official charity partners that make the Oaks not only a great experience, but a party with a purpose #girlpower. If you plan on going, be sure to where pink. General admission tickets ($40) are still available.

KentuckyDerby_2016Saturday (5/7) Kentucky Derby 142 - Did you know that the Kentucky Derby is the oldest continuously contested sporting events in history? Yep, pretty amazing and here’s your chance to experience the magic in person at the world-famous track Churchill DownsGeneral Admission Tickets ($60) are still available. With a GA ticket you can party in the infield or party on the paddock, your choice (wink).
