As a new person to a city or neighborhood, it is important to connect to your neighbors either through neighborhood associations or events.  Below are are a couple of great neighborhood events going on this weekend that we thought you should know about.

Center for Neighborhoods Grassroots Gala - Friday (6/1)

I just recently learned about the Center for Neighborhoods and sure glad I did.  They are a wonderful non-profit organization that works closely with local government to create sound neighborhoods and community.  They are hosting a Grassroots Gala this Friday (6/1) from 4 pm - 10 pm downtown on 4th street between Chestnut and Broadway.  There will be a little something for everyone: 30 booths, 8 food trucks, 6 musical performances, 3 nationally-known local artist, BBC Community Beer Garden, Keep louisville weird raffle, “Down and Dirty” kids’ area.  Plus we will have a booth set up, so make sure to stop by and say hi!

Butchertown Art Fair  - Saturday (6/2)

The Butchertown Art Fair is an annual event hosted by the Butchertown Neighborhood Association.  The art fair is Saturday (6/2) from 10 am - 7 pm located on E. Washington Street between Shelby and Wenzel.  There will be local artists, food trucks, children’s activities, beer and wine garden and a free bike valet.  Also bring your old shoes to donate to Edge Outreach shoes for water.  One pair of donated shoes serves two purposes; affordable footwear AND clean, safe water!
