Now - Friday (5/6) Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville Concert Series - The Kentucky Derby Festival concert series continues this week! Admission is free with a Pegasus Pin, pick one up at any local Kroger. Wednesday (5/4) BeerFest and WineFest - Like beer? Like wine? Thanks to the Kentucky Derby Festival, you can have both! Enjoy samplings of regional and national craft beers at BeerFest and wines at Winefest on the waterfront. A perfect way to kick-off your Derby festivities. BeerFest and WineFest tickets are $45 and include tastings, a souvenir sampling glass and event pin. Congrats to our ticket winners Jennifer and Erin!
Thursday (5/5) Republic Bank Pegasus Parade - Annual Derby Tradition since 1956. The Pegasus Parade marches west on Broadway and this year’s theme is “Fun For The Arts.” The parade starts at 5 pm and showcases some of the nation’s finest marching bands and equestrian units, inflatable characters, and colorful floats. Free and open to the public.
Thursday (5/5) Thurby - And no we aren’t slurring our words. It’s like FRamily, or BRangelina, it’s the Thursday before Derby when the locals hit up the track. Tickets are affordable (starting at $20) and the track is all decked out for Derby, but without the large crowds and long lines. Plus you can practice your betting skills before the big day! Thursday (5/5) Bourbon & Blaze - Continue your Thurby with fine folks at Evan Williams Bourbon Experience and Do502 at the Green Building/Galaxie Bar in the heart of NuLu. Music lineup of Louisville talent includes White Reaper, Quiet Hollers, Graffiti, and Legs Akimbo. FREE w/ RSVP. Party starts at 6 pm. After party with OK Deejays runs from midnight to 4 am.
Friday (5/6) Kentucky Oaks - Namesake fillies race, boasts a special flower (Lilly), official cocktail (also the Lilly with a collectible glass) and has official charity partners that make the Oaks not only a great experience, but a party with a purpose #girlpower. If you plan on going, be sure to where pink. General admission tickets ($40) are still available.
Saturday (5/7) Kentucky Derby 142 - Did you know that the Kentucky Derby is the oldest continuously contested sporting events in history? Yep, pretty amazing and here’s your chance to experience the magic in person at the world-famous track Churchill Downs. General Admission Tickets ($60) are still available. With a GA ticket you can party in the infield or party on the paddock, your choice (wink).
Sunday (5/8) Hangover Brunch - So you’ll probably be a little hung over after partying all week/weekend. You have two options: 1) stay at home in bed nursing your hangover or 2) saddle up and hop on down to one of Louisville’s brunch hot spots. Our choice, #2 of course and our top picks: Silver Dollar, Toast on Market, Harvest, Con Huevos, Gralehaus, North End Cafe. Bloody Mary anyone?!?
