First and foremost on our radar is a three-day holiday weekend! Who doesn’t like an extra day off to frolic in the sun, right? And there is plenty to do in Louisville this weekend, so no need to hit to road.

Now - Saturday (5/31) Hometown Tourist Month - Have friends and family in town for the holiday weekend? Not only can you show them the top attractions in town, but as a local YOU can take advantage of the special discounts during Hometown Tourist Month simply by showing your KY or IN license. Thursday (5/21) Twilight Thursdays - Thursdays just got a little more exciting. Grab your friends and head to the track for a sure bet, Twilight Thursdays at Churchill Downs! Live thoroughbred racing from 5 - 8:30 PM + $1 Draft beers, food trucks, and live music from 5 - 7 pm. THIS is how we happy hour in Kentucky!

Thursday (5/21) Rye Back Porch Sessions - After hitting up the track head on down to Rye on Market who’s kicking off their Back Porch session of the year, on you guessed it, the back porch. This month’s featured artists are Old Baby, Bitchin Bajas and Dream Eye Color Wheel. Free with RSVP. Music starts at 7 pm.

Thursday (5/21) - Monday (5/25) Abby Road on the River - the world’s largest Beatles-inspired music festival is this weekend on the Belvedere in Downtown Louisville. Tickets range from $20 to $200 for a full weekend pass. Enter to win some sweet Beatles merch at new2lou.do502.com.

Friday (5/22) - Saturday (5/23) J. Roddy Walston - J. Roddy Walston and the Business is lighting up the stage not one, but TWO nights this week. Catch the show(s) at Headliners Music Hall this Friday and Saturday night. Doors open at 7 pm; music starts at 8 pm. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Friday (5/22) - Sunday (5/24) Kentucky Reggae Festival -Kick off the weekend with the flavor of the islands at the Kentucky Reggae Festival. Enjoy a Caribbean atmosphere of live reggae music, ethnic food and the Caribbean vendor market. Admission: $12 before 6pm, $16 after 6pm, $30 for a 3 day pass.

Saturday (5/23) Fleur de Flea - What the Flea?!? Local Louisville urban marketplace this weekend at Festival Plaza in Waterfront Park! Local vendors selling all kinds of sweet goods, including books, records, vintage, antiques, repurposed, and more. And you can get your grub on too with local food trucks. FREE and open to the public.

Sunday (5/24) Boomtown Ball and Festival - Mark your calendars for the second Boomtown Ball & Festival - the official kickoff to the Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series. The party kicks off at 1 pm this Sunday on Market Street in downtown New Albany. Outdoor bazaar, live music, food and more! FREE and open to the public.

Monday (5/25) Mayor’s Hike, Bike and Paddle - FREE family friendly Healthy Hometown event. To participate you can hikebike or paddle, your choice! There’s a full day of fun activities, click here for the full agenda. Participants are encouraged to be “green” so bring your own water bottle!

Wednesday (5/27) Waterfront Wednesday - FREE summer concerts presented by WFPK on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville Waterfront Park (located next to the Big Four Bridge) every fourth Wednesday of the spring/summer months. Featured artists this month: Civil Twilight, Jukebox the Ghost, and Small Time Napoleon. Big Four Lawn “opens” at 5 pm, and the music starts at 6 pm.

Thursday (5/28) New2HorseRacing - If you are New2Lou, chances are you don’t know much about how to bet at the track. Now that you live in the land of horses and the biggest race in the world, it’s your duty! Join us and Churchill Downs for a beginner-friendly handicapping seminar Thursday (5/28) at 5:30 pm. Event is FREE, but RSVP required. And space is limited so RSVP today!
